Mark Freeman

Mark Freeman (Sept. 27, 1908 – Feb. 6, 2003) was an Austrian-born American artist, "whose prints and paintings from the 1930s chronicle a seminal period of New York City’s architectural growth in a style that has been described (by Will Barnet) as a beautiful blend of the poetic and historical."〔(Freeman obituary ), ''New York Times'' (Feb. 16, 2003).〕〔("Reaching for the Sky" remarks by Will Barnet page 18 )〕
==Biography==
Freeman was born in 1908 in Zaleszczyki, Austria, and came to New York in January 1923.
Freeman had a BA from Columbia College, a Bachelor of Architecture from Columbia University, a Master of Architecture from Columbia, and a Diploma of Art and Archaeology from the Sorbonne in Paris. He also studied at the National Academy of Design.〔(Mark Freeman biography p.1192 )〕
He and his wife Polly Allen (who died before him) were married for 67 years. They had two sons and seven grandchildren.〔 Freeman died in 2003 in New York City.
